Minnie Pwerle (1910-2006) is one of Australia’s most important artists to emerge from the Utopia Desert Art Movement. Her paintings are in important collections around the world. Experts estimate she created more than 3000 paintings over a seven year period (from 1999 to 2006). She is noted for her graphic designs drawn from her traditional stories relating to Aboriginal women.
Her paintings have been included in many public exhibitions and she has had numerous solo exhibitions in Australia and abroad. Many of Minnie Pwerle’s solo exhibitions were organised and co ordinate by DACOU.
